More About the Female Artists Nominated For The American Music Awards

One of the most anticipated music awards of the year will take place on Sunday of November 22nd. There are big names among the female nominees like Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, Cardi B, and Lady Gaga.

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift surprised fans with her new album "Folklore," written and recorded in isolation. With hands-on a vintage piano in a series of gorgeously lit dreamscapes and her pop-crafted chronicle of love lost and perhaps regained in the big city. The video for "Cardigan," directed by Swift, is a song about romance and why young love is often fixed so permanently within our memories and why it leaves such an indelible mark. The artist is nominated in four categories of the American Music Awards (AMAs), including Artist of the Year, Favorite Female Artist – Pop/Rock, Favorite Music Video for "Cardigan," and Favorite Album – Pop/Rock for "Folklore."

Doja Cat

A new artist that is taken over the music industry is Doja Cat. After the commercial success of "Say So," with the single having a viral TikTok dance, her song had a massive boost in streams and digital series despite being an old track. The release of her album "Hot Pink" was a step in the right direction. Dua Lipa is nominated in two categories. The first is Favorite Female Artist – Pop/Rock, and the other is Favorite Song – Pop/Rock for "Don't Start Now." The single is a worldwide hit with a billion streams. Her last album, "Future Nostalgia," is funky, catchy, and overall enjoyable for all audiences. The success "Don't Start Now" has achieved signifies an evolution in Dua Lipa's career. The singer is an ambitious and engaging pop sensation, willing to grow.

Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion

Cardi B featuring Megan Thee Stallion – "WAP" has over 276 million views on YouTube. Along with the song's massive success, there have also been people angry for the explicit lyrics. However, the track has become one of the most famous beats of the year. "WAP" is nominated for Collaboration of the Year and Favorite Song – Rap/Hip-Hop, while Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion are both nominated for Favorite Female Artist – Rap/Hip-Hop.

Megan is also a favorite for winning the New Artist of the Year. Her collaboration with Cardi B is nominated to the AMAs, and her song "Savage (Remix)" featuring Beyoncé is on the list.

Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande

This year, Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga dropped their highly anticipated duet "Rain on Me," which is nominated for Favorite Music Video and Collaboration of the Year. Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande are those cases where real talent always wins the majority.

Thanks to the track, Nicky Minaj is nominated for Favorite Female Artist – Rap/Hip-Hop while the song a strong nominee for Favorite Album – Soul/R&B and Favorite Song – Latin. Karol G is also a nominated for Favorite Female Artist – Latin. For this last category, Karol G and Rosalía are also competing for the award.

Country Music and Contemporary Inspirational

In the Favorite Female Artist – Country, the nominees are Gabby Barrett, Miranda Lambert, Maren Morris. The last artist has won this genre in other music awards this year, so it wouldn't be a surprise if she wins this recognition. In the Favorite Song – Country, the favorites are Maren Morris – "The Bones" and Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani – "Nobody but You."

In the category of Favorite Artist – Contemporary Inspirational, the only women artist nominee is the Christian music singer Lauren Daigle.

Summer Walker and Jhené Aiko

For Favorite Female Artist – Soul/R&B, Jhené Aiko and Summer Walker are the nominees. In 2014, Jhené released her debut studio album "Souled Out," which hit number three on the Hot 200 and number one on the R&B hip-hop chart. Summer Walker, a nominee in Favorite Song – Soul/R&B for "Playing Games," has taken several R&B awards this year.
