Cruella

Emma Stone will perform Disney's second live-action. It is an origin story set in London in the 70s with clear influences from the music and theater scene. I, Tonya's Craig Gillespie, directs while Emma Thompson, Mark Strong, Paul Walter Hauser, and Joel Fry are co-stars. What a cast! Cruella de Vil is the main antagonist in the 1956 novel by English author Dodie Smith The Hundred and One Dalmatians. The character is also a Disney fan-favorite villain, and they're eager to see Best Actress Oscar winner Emma Stone bring her to life.

The Little Mermaid

Another Disney live-action adaptation that set the internet on fire with controversy is The Little Mermaid. Lin-Manuel Miranda tries to do for Ariel what he did for Alexander Hamilton: give the main character a new approach. Halle Bailey is a singer and member of the R&B duo of her and her sister Chloe Bailey. Beyoncé hired the sisters, Chloe x Halle, for her record company. Although some people are not comfortable seeing a black Ariel, expectations are high as Disney chose Halle for her talent and beautiful voice.
